Personal Statement:

My family enjoyed a Normal Rockwell life until 1974 when my mother became ill due to end stage renal disease. I am the older of 2 sons and we all attended public schools. I was a Boy Scout, served as an altar boy, and played little league baseball. At about 15, I felt a need to be of assistance and I began to help out around the house. I ran errands, did laundry, and put things in the oven during my mother’s many periods of down time. I also helped run the back operations when my parents entertained during her healthy stretches. I prepared and served drinks at cocktail parties and for dinner parties I cleared the table and cleaned the kitchen so they could focus on entertaining.

Upon graduating from college, I joined my father in the business he set out and founded from scratch. I did so to “pay him back” for the support he had provided for me growing up. Also, the Boy Scout in me liked the idea of helping people find employment.

I now realize how I share my Service Heart with my parents.  My mother served 33 years at home to be with her children. My father served his family well with countless hours of hard work and devotion. I have in turn sacrificed income potential and career opportunities to support my parents in their mutual times of need. The saying is true. The apple doesn’t fall too far away from the tree.

I am now free to seek a position that will encompass my skills and abilities in household or estate management. I am naturally an organizer and coordinator. Once I have been assigned or defined a task to be done, I break the task down into segments and then either do or coordinate with the appropriate people and staff or outside vendor to have it accomplished to my employer’s expectations. I have done this in business and at home.

I am a blend of two “Service Styles” coined by the Starkey System. The first is “Mid-Western”: I have a strong work-ethic, and I am analytical, methodological, and logical way my brain works at taking on a task and coordinating a solution. Yet personality also encompasses a “California” more casual style. But I like the everyday interaction of employer and employee to be informal yet still respectful at all times. My top three standards are:  Administrative as I am very computer literate, can provide bookkeeping and follow a budget, my Housekeeping is detailed and technically accurate, they say I wield a mean dust cloth; and my Property and Grounds Care, I love.

I can easily adapt to a more formal approach to service because of how I was brought up. I have also been very hands on over the years and am not fazed by any request or task no matter how large or small.  I still own a home in NY and look forward to serving anywhere in or near Manhattan.
