Personal Statement:

I love working in the field of Household Management!  Early on I recognized that my strength was in the service field.  For example, when I was in high school, I worked part time in a nursing home kitchen.  I had the opportunity to interact with the senior citizens there and get to know them a little.  With this interaction, I hopefully was able to make their lives a little more pleasant.

I was in the U.S. Army for seventeen years.  For six of those years I served as a Food Specialist (cook), the remaining eleven of those years my position has been as an Enlisted Aide.  That is I work and take care of Commanding General Officers and their families in their private homes.  Many in the Army or even the other branches of the military can’t believe that there is a job like mine.  I enjoy my job; I do it well and with pride.  My Principals know that I will take care of them, even when they overload me with numerous functions within a week’s time.  Even when I don’t feel like getting out of bed, my dedication to the family is enough for me to get through the day.

One of the greatest compliments I could have been given was from the Senior Officer Wives at Fort Carson.  They all said that they would always be in for a treat when they were invited for any function at the Commanding General’s house; that is because I focused on them to make it a memorable occasion.  I am a highly trained and accomplished cook, especially in the private home setting.

My top three Service Standards:  Culinary:  Able to prepare high quality meals for up to 100 guests for a sit-down Dinner and 300 guests for Hors d’ Oeuvres Parties, creates menus for daily meals as well as special events, structured menus to allow for Guests’ and General’s dietary and cultural restrictions.  Clothing and Valet:  over 19 years of performing detailed uniform care, responsible for maintaining the overall appearance of several high ranking official, including uniform care, packing and unpacking, and ironing while traveling.  Entertaining:  Orchestrated numerous events, up to several times a week, often with short notice, guests included Heads of State, Foreign and National Dignitaries, Trained addition staff for serving at large functions, established regular uniforms for all casual and formal events, created and oversaw the printing of menus, seating charts and additional materials, coordinated with outside agencies for floral arrangements, linens and rental items.

In my off-duty time I am also usually helping people.  I volunteer as Scout Master for the Local Boy Scout Troop and serve on the Boy Scout Council’s district staff in several positions.  I am a proud member of the U-BET Club.  When something is asked of me, I say “you bet”.  I serve on the local council of the Knights of Columbus and am active in my church.  I cannot imagine doing any thing but Household Management as a Career.
