Personal Statement:

I grew up in Oregon in a small town called Grants Pass. I still have memories of wanting to learn how to fly off that balcony like Superman in the stories my mother read to us at bedtime.  Luckily my grandparents lived close by, and pulled into the driveway one afternoon just in time to save the three blond haired girls from flying!  This set the tone for the next thirty years, to live life enjoying every day God had granted me on this earth, and never be afraid to try new things.

My parents divorced when I was ten years old.  My mother had always been a homemaker and suddenly had to return to the work force.   She took a job for as a buyer for woman’s fine clothing.  That gave me a good working knowledge of the clothing industry.  I started to sew the majority of my clothes for school and developed quite a flair for fashion.  The dynamics had changed that year in our household.  The position I filled was that of the cook.  Our finances were very tight, and as a result, I had to become very creative.  From that point on I also learned to clean and take care of my baby brother.

I participated in various sports since I was seven years old and my father was always very supportive of that.  Two weeks before my senior graduation I was offered a chance to be the 1st woman in the world to jump a motorcycle, like Evel Knievel.  In the summer of 1972, I set the World Record as the first woman ever to jump motorcycles.

From 1973 to 1977, I ran the operation of LD Enterprise, which negotiated and executed many jumping endorsements and commercial contracts.  Over the last twenty five years I have developed and owned several other businesses including fine jewelry and clothing, and five restaurants, at times employing over 40 people.  I enjoy the process of interviewing, selecting, and training new staff.  I feel it is very important that staff be treated with respect at all times.

My top three Service Standards are Culinary:  I choose to use all natural whole foods, such as using organic products and chicken that is free range.  I enjoy cooking, understand the terminologies used in a kitchen, and can manage and jointly work with a certified chef.   I like to prepare healthy, low fat meals and am able to meet the dietary needs of my Principal within reason. Maintenance:  My father was a home builder for 40 years and my husband was a Commercial General Contractor for 20 years. I have knowledge putting jobs out for bid, sorting through and awarding bids.  Clothing Care:  I Owned a clothing store, I have gone to market in Dallas, I am trained in the care of high end clothing, I can do some alterations, I can identify high end labels and designer ware.  I also have strong management skills, Communication skills and problem solving.

Service is “the work performed by one that serves, and the contribution to the welfare of others.” This would aptly describe me and my attitude towards other people. Not only is it joy to perform, but very satisfying to see that others also delight in your good service.
