Dear Mrs. Starkey,

Good morning.

After 8 weeks of hard work
and going through a long personal journey,
which you made possible.... :)
I finally made it home safe and sound to Los Angeles
yesterday afternoon, at 6 p.m.
I couldn't have learned as much as I did without
your great knowledge, passion and support.

I will miss you, too.
Thank you for leaving your door open and phone line available to me.
Your words have opened my eyes and heart
and I look forward to what lies ahead.
I wish nothing, but the best for you.
Again, may angels be with you always
and have a lovely Sunday.

Dear Mrs. Starkey,

I am so impress with your course and stimulated with waking up every morning to a new chapter of discovery. My nights of sleep have not been filled for years radiated by what was gained during the day. Having taught in a lot of universities different syllabus, yours is the best constructed and the easiest delivery of all. You speak from the heart to the soul of “Service” that has broadened my understanding. Each chapter even though I have been in service shines a brighter light and opens the door that seeks more. My father who was a career West Pointer, commanding troops most of my life told me as a child do not yell for no one will listen, speak softly and they will follow. You syllabus does just that, its delivery is so soft speaking directly in a coherent cognitive manner.

A hundred years ago the auto was hand built and there were small factories all over the world. They built amazing cars for the elite, yet there was not a common vocabulary. Then Henry Ford built the assembly line understanding the future and developing a vocabulary that revolutionized the auto industry and about everything else that has ever been mass produce. When most people ask what was Henry Ford greatest achievement they would say it was the assembly line. But in fact it was the vocabulary that brings definition to the duties of those on that line. You have done that for a profession so old that one wonder’s why it took so long.

On the exam on Unit 2 was this question:
Please explain the importance of having a Code of Ethics for you as a Service Manager working in Private Service?

My answer:
It provides the Bible that reaches our soul and beliefs that we must live by. Wisdom, Loyalty, Trust, Service, Lawful Behavior, Commitment, Conduct, Personal Growth, Leaderships, and Professional Relationships are the chapters that bare our understanding in pride of service. Without the Code of Ethics we are merely slaves, with it we are providers with a consciousness.

You have brought definition to “Service”, not only to the staff but to the Principals as well in a profession that had few words to communicate. Very little has changed in the last century via communication but then in the last twenty years the beeper followed by the cell phone came in. Now the entire vocabulary has been changed on how we communicate. My parents if they were a live would not believe what a phone could do today. Terms like “apps and text” and all of the abbreviations would be a new language to them. Yet this has revolutionized communication throughout the world and changed our perspective on how to communicate. The accountability of an Estate Manager is in communication, the delivery of his/her duties but most importantly it is being on the Principal Agenda. Your program not only does that it elevates the awkwardness of discovery, for it opens the door that has release us from slavery in an antedated profession.
The pyramids are the marvel of mysteries. We know the Kings they have persevered, we know the slaves that built them. But we do not know who took the words of the kings and directed such a task to leave a testament to time. As an Estate Manager I strive to be that courier not known but greatly understood by those who I direct.

Thank you for giving me the tools and vocabulary to do this in a greater and more efficient way.

Dear Mary,

Thank you so much for a fabulous training and a wonderful afternoon. As always, you were brilliant in your ability and passion - drawing each out and helping them see their strengths and feel their passion. I know they were really jazzed and immediately wanted to redo our table settings!

I'm hoping it will rub off on their personal appearance! Who knew that some would never consider ironing a blouse!

The training was thorough without being overwhelming. You have a masterful way of weaving in the teachings with story and fun so there is a letting down and letting "in" of the information… and a thirst for more.

It was also clear to the corporate team that the staff was jazzed and inspired. I feel there will be interest in more trainings if you are available. It seemed like a good way for your students to practice too!

Thank you again

Dear Mrs. Starkey,

I wanted to thank-you for owning who you are and demanding that we all do the same. I wanted to thank-you for helping me see the loss in judging others and the peace of acceptance and understanding. I wanted you to know how much I appreciate your passion and belief in what you do and have created. But above all else, I wanted to thank you for the courage and strength you draw from being a smart, driven, powerful woman!

Thank you.
